Guard is a standard action available to all playable characters. When used, the character reduces all received damage for the turn by 50% after calculating for other defenses. Guard also grants the user a small amount of TP.
The effects of certain attacks may essentially bypass Guard entirely, such as those utilizing Instant Death. Some specific attacks have their damage reduced even more than the normal 50%, often ones that are telegraphed by requiring the use of Charge or Focus such as Swallow Whole or Adorable Justice to indicate to the player that they should use Guard.
