Siphoning is the act of draining magic from an Arcano Core in order to increase the power of a Magical Girl. This is a process that is only effective if the Magical Girl in question has a neutral magical aura, meaning they had no magical powers prior to becoming a Magical Girl. If a girl had powers prior to becoming a Magical Girl, while it gives them an initial boost, it also directs the manner in which their powers will develop. Adding the power from an Arcano Core to this can conflict with the existing nature of their magic, possibly even weakening them.
In gameplay terms this means that of the Cutie Knights only Eric(a) is capable of siphoning a Core. This is something that can be done at the ritual room in the basement of Phyre's Tower, a process that will take the rest of the day and return the party back to the camp at dinner time. A Core is not consumed or otherwise altered when siphoned and can continue to be equipped by any member of the party. Each time a Core is siphoned, there are up to three effects that will happen:
- Stat Changes: Most cores will also give Eric(a) a permanent stat boost. If affecting multiple stats and one is boosted by a large amount it is common to actually lose points from a stat as well. If Eric(a) lost stats from losing in battle to a Magico, siphoning its associated Core also commonly will return all or most of the stats lost.
- Skill Gain: Some Cores when drained will permanently give Eric(a) a new skill or skills. These skills are not the same as the skills the same Core gives when equipped.
- Transformations: Every Core has an associated transformation. Unless Eric(a) already has the same transformation from another source it is most likely for every Core siphoned to add a new one. Unlike transformations from other sources, those that come from siphoning Cores typically cannot be reversed.

Five Cores

Six Cores
The Dream Door in Eric(a)'s mind will open by itself if Eric(a) did not open it already before. This gives Eric(a) the Mana Burst skill and allows access to Eric(a)'s Memories.
