Eric(a): "What are we facing Isabelle?"
Isabelle: "Right, this one's codename is Life Drinker. It was defeated recently and... Sigh, not again. Whoever beat it didn't bother to fill in most of the report, so I really don't know anything else about it."
Veronica: "So you have no idea about its powers and abilities?"
Alice: "Going by its name it probably drains lifeforce. Aside from that, those fangs look pretty sharp."
Natalie: "It doesn't matter what powers it has. This monster will not escape our punishment!"
Veronica: "I had never pegged Natalie as the berserker type. I guess looks can be deceiving."
Isabelle: "Good luck girls! I wish I could help you!"

The Magico Life Drinker is the ruler of the Misty Woods, having consumed the lifeforce of nearly every living thing within its borders. While most of its abilities are straightforward physical attacks, its unique twist is a combination of its two signature skills Enfeebling Mists and Death Breath. The first applies the unique Weakened status effect to two random party members, cutting their ATK and MAT in half. While this is annoying enough on its own, its true effect comes into play when combined with the latter skill. Death Breath on its own deals a strong but non-lethal amount of Instant Death element damage to your party, but for any Weakened members it will become a true Instant Death, suffering a lethal amount of damage instead unless they are using Guard. Sadly, Lovely Barricade has no effect against weakness, and thus is useless for this battle between that and everything being physical.
First off, as mentioned before all of Life Drinker's abilities are physical, meaning that they go up against your DEF, not your MDF, so you may want to change your gear to focus on the former instead of the latter. Second, if you have them, equip one of your party members with the Bunny Print Panties. This accessory negates all instant death effects, and also provides a hefty amount of DEF, making it well-suited for this fight. Natalie would not be a bad choice as she heals and revives, but unfortunately she cannot actually equip panty-type accessories. Eric(a) if they have T3 Transformation and the associated healing and revival skills would also make a good second choice. Beyond that, you should simply pour out damage quickly without getting killed yourself.
Life Drinker will cause a decent amount of havoc with his physical attacks, so Natalie will likely focus on healing. Veronica's physical attacks will be largely ineffective here, as Life Drinker resists physical damage; consider having her tank with Luring Flare or use support items instead. Finally, although Life Drinker doesn't always follow up Enfeebling Mists with Death Breath, you should be careful about having weakened characters do anything but guard. Getting caught by a successful Death Breath will prove disastrous. Pay attention to the status effect, and let the characters return to combat after the weakness wears off.
Upon defeating Life Drinker, Yoshida will emerge from hiding and steal the Death Mist Core.
Losing the Battle
The consequences of losing to Life Drinker depend entirely on your relationship with Veronica. The Magico will drain Eric(a)'s lifeforce dangerously low before they can be teleported out of danger. Once back in camp, it will be determined that Life Drinker drained a lethal amount of lifeforce from them.
- If Veronica has not yet shown you her spaceship, Eric(a) dies before Olivia can treat her wounds.
- If Veronica has shown you her ship, she instead infuses Eric(a) with a massive dose of her personal lifeforce. This allows them to recover, though at a cost to their defenses (permanent -5 DEF and -5 MDF). It also gives Eric(a) the Delicate Shoulders Transformation. Siphoning the Death Mist core later will restore these lost stats.
