The Nereid is a recurring enemy in the Return to Mermaid Caves. From the dialogue at the start of battles, this is a single particular Nereid rather than multiples of a species. Given her relatively high stats and large array of immunities she can also be considered something of a wandering mini-boss for the area, complete with her own unique game over.
