Eric(a): What is this thing? It sounds pretty horrible!
Wendy: That is a Hell Portal, and no, that name is not hyperbolic. These things are living, or maybe unliving, connections straight to hell. They aptly use hellfire against any they deem sinners, which means everyone. Alternatively, they use the wails of those already sent to hell in a mind-shattering scream attack. Worst of all is their ability to enlarge themselves, which they use to try and suck enemies straight into hell. At least they require preparation for this, so watch out for any signs.

Hell Portals are dangerous enemies that, while having average ATK at best, can cast powerful spells, including one that does severe AoE damage. Luckily, this spell requires a charge, so be sure to Guard against it.
