Bestiary Entry: An ancient and powerful spirit of the seas, obsessed with vengeance against any evildoers who violate her domain.

Natalie: "Is that an... underwater blue girl? Do you think she is friendly?"

Veronica: "With those claws? No way."

Wendy: "That is a Nereid, otherwise known as a sea nymph. It's surprising to see one around here. They tend to stick to the open ocean. Careful with her. Nereids are usually friendly, but they can be unpredictable."

Nereid: "You've been stinking up the place since you arrived, and I've had enough!"

The Nereid is a recurring enemy in the Return to Mermaid Caves. From the dialogue at the start of battles, this is a single particular Nereid rather than multiples of a species. Given her relatively high stats and large array of immunities she can also be considered something of a wandering mini-boss for the area, complete with her own unique game over.
