Historica of Lovely Fate
This page is about the character. Did you mean the boss battle in Magical Camp Rania (Boss Battle)?

Rania is a recurring character who appears in several games. A powerful elven mage and accomplished planeswalker, Erik meets her during his search for an escape from The Elder One's mansion. She is found in the Dining Room, taking a rest from her search for a particular item, the Mirror of Altenak.

Decades later, the Cutie Knights can encounter Rania as well in her strange "fun house," where they have to overcome all manners of traps and various strange enemies in their quest to battle Rania for the fate of their own names.

Personality

Rania at first appears to be an arrogant elven girl of moderate height and bust, wearing a large hat and dressed in a showy, mostly blue and pink magical dress of some design with a prominent pentagram above her chest. Talking to her or showing her items without introducing himself first, she reacts fairly rudely to Erik, and may give the impression that she wants to be left alone. Nothing could be further from the truth however as revealed when she gets a little drunk and loosens up, showing a surprisingly vulnerable and lonely side born from how people threat her like an infallible and untouchable saviour rather than a regular person with her own wants and needs.

Interactions (Prisoners of the Elder One)

Rania can be talked to and, after an initial misunderstanding, turns out to be knowledgeable on a wide variety of topics, thanks to her planeswalking and related adventuring. She reveals that she could take Erik and Tiffany along for the ride, but not get them home as she does not know where exactly Earth is located in the multiverse.

She reacts to a wide variety of items, such as the Hand Mirror and reveals that she herself is looking for a mirror as well, although the Hand Mirror is too small to be the one she wants. Fond of alcohol, she accepts Wine, which may lead to a sexual encounter with her. Erik has the choice on capturing her with the Collar, or not betray her by taking advantage of her being too drunk to resist being enslaved. She may even help Erik free Tiffany from the evil Yuki.

Managing to actually provide her with the real Mirror of Altenak has her take it off of Erik's hands as she deems it far too dangerous for a regular mortal human like him. In turn, she provides a Warding Crystal as thanks to protect Erik from some of the more typical charm and mind control effects one can come across (such as those from demons).

Interactions (Magical Camp)

By the time Magical Camp happens, Rania seems to have actually found the Mirror of Altenak. Sadly it appears she underestimated the mirror's corruptive powers and subsequently became even more powerful, and very very mad. If the Cutie Knights escape from the Exile Dimension, Rania congratulates them and provides both a Tentacle Leotard and a map to her "fun house." Also of note is that the Cutie Knights' initial entry into the Exile Dimension and method of escape was through the use of mirrors, suggesting Rania's involvement in the situation from beginning to end.

Once the Cutie Knights have followed her map to a dilapidated house, they can check a mirror there and suddenly end up in a pristine version of the building. Rania waits for them, disguised as a chest, and has a talk with them. First she creates a cult dedicated to worshipping her, then uses time powers to retroactively change the names of the Cutie Knights into insults, only to taunt them and vanish. To undo the curse, the four Magical Girls need to find and defeat Rania while surviving her traps and shenanigans.

The four girls end up pursuing the mad mage through a series of mirrors and iterations of the house and finally confront her in battle. What becomes of Rania after they smash her mirror during the final fight is unknown, as the girls find themselves back in the original rundown house, the initial mirror now broken beyond repair... but it is highly unlikely this is the end of the elusive elf.

Related Endings (Prisoners of the Elder One)

  • Elven Bride:
    • If Erik provides Rania with the Mirror of Altenak, and gains her trust during the sex scene followed by passing Rania's secret mental evaluation, then provided no other ending takes precedence she will appear on Earth and tell Erik she is pregnant. A shotgun wedding occurs, and during the wedding night Rania reveals that she likes Erik for who he is and what he stands for, genuinely having fallen in love with him... although she doesn't like that he heard that last part and gets flustered. She does become more honest with herself later, but it will take a while.
  • Grabbed By The Ghoulie:
    • Using the Dark Magus Ring on Rania has her retaliate with paralysing magic, but it's too late and she is sent straight to Hell. Erik, unable to move, succumbs to thirst and dies, but the vile influence of the dark ring turns him into a female ghoul, forever forced to obey an insatiable hunger for the flesh of the living.
  • Young Girl:
    • If Erik tries to capture Rania with the collar without any preparation, she paralyses and subsequently makes him harmless by turning him into a little girl named Stella, mental adjustments and removal of excess knowledge included. Stella is later adopted by a nice couple Rania knows who always wanted a child and gets to live a happy life. Tiffany on the other hand is not so lucky.
  • Witch Elf:
    • Erik's attempt to use the Transfigurative Orb on Rania has her deem it foolish and easily redirect the magic back on Erik. Now that Erik has become a young female elf, Rania reveals she also performed a few mental modifications on her so she won't want to go back to being a man. Sure enough, the new witch elf "Eloen" quickly gets used to being an elven girl and becomes Rania's apprentice. While not as magically gifted as Rania herself, she does become quite accomplished and manages to save Tiffany... although the poor girl has succumbed to The Elder One's tortures by this point and thus not much of the original Tiffany is left.

Related Endings (Magical Camp)

  • Dragon Princess Game Over
    • Losing in Rania's Fun House to any enemy except for Rania herself will result in Rania losing interesting in the Cutie Knights and the cultists tossing them all into "the pit." Falling through non-existence for an undetermined period of time, Eric(a)'s identity is wiped away, with their remaining soul eventually incarnating as a dragon princess in another world.
  • Elfrica Game Over
    • Losing to Rania herself in the final boss fight of Rania's Fun House will result in this ending. Rania punishes the Cutie Knights in various ways, including wiping Eric(a) away entirely. Later during a moment of boredom, she brings Eric(a)'s soul back and transforms them into a little sister named Rydia for herself complete with memories and backstory.
