Gabriel is an Archangel of Heaven.
Backstory
As an Archangel, Gabriel is in charge of some portion of Heaven's forces. In one known event he and/or his subordinates were part of an attack on Hell where he would meet a young Natalie. Both Gabriel and his subordinate Angel recognized a resemblance Natalie bore to somebody, implied to be her father who is often alluded to be an Angel. Gabriel is the one who transformed Natalie's shattered friend/toy "Mister Skull" into "Mister Huggy Bear" and blessed it such that demons (except Natalie, possibly due to her speculated half-angelic nature) who touch it will be severely harmed.
Personality
From his encounter with Natalie, Gabriel seems to show the compassion expected of an Angel. Though his behaviour during that particular incident cannot be fully confirmed as to whether it was just because she was still a child, or whether it was more specifically due to her often alluded to parentage. More than just sparing her, he created the teddy bear Natalie still carries to this day and even offered to take her back to Heaven.
The wrathful nature of an angel can also be seen from his encounter, given his enchantment on Natalie's new bear to harm demons. It would have been easy to guess that it would likely come into contact with Natalie's sisters, and at the time he couldn't have been fully sure that they deserved it since Natalie did not speak ill of them in his presence.

- There are no direct interactions with Gabriel, but he can be seen in the flashback narrated by Natalie about Mister Huggy Bear.
