Traps are lime-coloured flames found in the Big Tree, Eric(a)'s Memories, and Misty Woods. They deal direct damage to the party instead of spawning a monster. Traps cannot KO, even if the damage caused would put the party at 0 HP. The effects are random, and include:
- Black Hole: Puts the party's HP to one
- Electric Shock: Drains HP and MP from the party
- Explosion: Drains HP from the party
- Mana Drain: Drains MP from the party
- Poison: Poisons the party
