When used outside of combat, Mystical Essence simply restores 10 MP to the user. In combat, however, it adds a very brief MAT Up status effect as well, increasing the efficacy of the next skill the recipient uses. Situations where it makes sense to do so are rare, however, as the MP recovery is very minimal and the turn spent using this item could usually be used dealing damage instead.
