Ayame is an experienced Japanese Magical Girl who runs the Magical Café. Although legally an adult, Ayame takes the physical form of a young girl, better known as a loli.
Backstory
Nothing is known about Ayame's personal life or backstory other than that she was born in a backwater hamlet in the Japanese countryside and is around 110 years old.
As a senior Magical Girl, Ayame has her own unique forms of magic, such as those used in extending lifespans. Ayame is capable of creating new artificial bodies for people that are sturdier, unaging, and long-lasting. As per her beliefs (see Personality section below), these bodies only come in loli form and also have a stronger ability to channel magic than most natural bodies.
At one point in time, Ayame tried to "reeducate" Marianne, someone who she rather hates the personality of. She transformed Marianne into a loli named "Mari-chan" and brainwashed her to forget her memories, trying to teach her to be more like her ideal kind of Magical Girl with lessons in cuteness, the power of friendship, etc. Marianne eventually broke free of the brainwashing, though some lingering remnants remain such as being unable to not speak cutely whenever she talks in Japanese. Marianne does not seem to hold any ill-will from this incident.
Personality
Ayame is someone known for her appreciation of lolis. She believes that youth equals cuteness (to a point), therefore being younger generally equals being cuter. Given that Magical Girls can actually derive power from Cuteness, being younger therefore also means being more powerful.
Ayame firmly believes that Magical Girls must be "cute, gentle, friendly, active, cuddly, very young (looking), and have a desire to help and save the world." In addition to her previous belief about youth, she therefore takes form of a young loli and tries to lead by example for those in the Magical Café. She will also happily turn others into lolis as well, though normally does not force it on people without extenuating circumstances.
As may be inferred from Ayame's beliefs about how Magical Girls should be, she very much does not get along with Marianne, even outright hating her. Marianne in turn, while not thinking Ayame is a bad Magical Girl, believes that she is too soft.
Interactions
- In the Punishment Classroom (Pure) Game Over, Eric(a)'s mind is reduced to that of an eleven year old girl. She is subsequently sent to the Magical Café where Ayame happily gives her a new body to match her mind.
Trivia
- A developer stated Ayame looks similar to the character Meruru from the Light Novel "Oreimo" (also known as "My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute") and even wears the same backpack.
